Abstract

In 2024, perihelion passages are expected for 79 comets, including 67 short-period comets (12 will only pass perihelion for the second time) and 12 long-period comets. Eight comets are expected to exceed the peak brightness of 11m. The discovery of new comets can change the statistics. Table 1 lists comets whose perihelion passage through is expected in 2024. Table 2 presents comets for which the brightness is expected to be greater than 11m in 2024.
