Abstract

In 2022, perihelion passages are expected for 83 comets, including 75 short-period comets (2 lost ones, 16 will only pass perihelion for the second time) and just 8 long-period comets. This year, unlike previous three years, promises to be a year of hope for good “catches” for comet observers. Eleven comets are expected to exceed the peak brightness of 10 m. Table 1 lists comets whose perihelion passage through is expected in 2022. Table 2 presents comets for which the brightness is expected to be greater than 10 m in 2022.
